Written in 456 BC, Aeschylus's Oresteia, a series of plays
that included Agamemnon, the Choėphorę (or Libation Bearers) and the Eumenides, is the only
one of his trilogies that has come down to us. It was probably the last that he exhibited at Athens, and upon it he seems
to have lavished all the splendors of his genius, that he might leave to his fellow citizens something worthy of his country
and himself. |
On a courageous journey of his own, Corey Allen, a NYC-based actor/playwright, has
set out to do something that few try: an adaptation of Aeschylus' work. Allen plans to bring this exciting tale to a
new generation.
Having completed the first of the three plays, Clytemnestra,
Corey intends to create a contemporary, accessible interpretation of the legend of the doomed House of Atreus. The current
title for this project is O4: Oresteia.
